Can I Scrap My Classic Car?
An older car can be unwanted, damaged or beyond the work you want to take on without being the same as every other classic. Model, originality, completeness and condition matter. If you believe it has collector or restoration value, consider an appropriate specialist opinion before choosing disposal. We do not treat age alone as a reason to scrap it.
There is no pressure to decide while you are gathering information. Start with your registration, explain the condition in your own words and tell us where the vehicle is parked. We can discuss a quotation without asking you to authorise repairs or accept an offer first.
Tell Us About the Model and History
Give the registration, model and approximate year if known. Mention records, previous restoration work and modifications you can genuinely describe. Do not guess at rarity or originality if uncertain. Photographs and useful existing paperwork can help explain the vehicle, but its present condition still matters more than an unfinished restoration plan.
Rust, Mechanical Trouble and Missing Parts
Describe corrosion, engine or gearbox faults, accident damage and dismantling. Explain whether original or replacement components are included and if loose spares form part of the sale. A classic car with missing major parts is different from a complete vehicle. Be clear about what is actually available before discussing an offer.
Make the Decision That Suits the Vehicle
You can ask for a quote while weighing up repair, specialist sale or disposal. Money spent on restoration does not automatically become sale value, and a finished example’s advertised price is not a like-for-like comparison. Take time to understand the offer and collection terms. There is no obligation to proceed with our quotation.
What to Include in Your Enquiry
Give us the registration, mileage if known and the postcode where the vehicle is now. Add the main problem and other faults, accident damage or missing parts. A useful description does not need to be technical; just tell us what you know and say when something is uncertain.
If you have a garage report, an MOT result or repair estimate already, the details can help. You do not need to buy another inspection solely for our quotation. Let us know if work has started or the vehicle has changed since a report was written.
Collection: What We Need to Know
Tell us where the classic car is stored, whether it stands on its wheels and if brakes or steering are restricted. Explain loose parts and access. Do not revive or tow a long-unused vehicle for us; discuss collection in its current state.
Please mention a narrow entrance, underground parking, another vehicle blocking access or a garage holding the keys. Tell us who can authorise release if the car is away from your home. We will discuss the practical details and what the offer includes before you decide, rather than assume every location or vehicle needs the same arrangements.
Ownership and Handover Paperwork
You need the right to sell the vehicle. Tell us about outstanding finance, a missing log book, an insurer’s involvement or an enquiry made for somebody else. Being able to access a car does not by itself mean you can authorise its sale. We will discuss any necessary checks before agreeing to proceed.
Keep useful vehicle and ownership documents together, and use the official DVLA guidance below when the vehicle is sold or scrapped. A quotation is not a substitute for the correct handover and notification. If the vehicle is scrapped, it must go to an authorised treatment facility. The official links below explain the process.

Questions About Selling a Classic car
Can I enquire about scrapping my classic car?
Yes. Explain the model and condition, and consider specialist advice first if you think it has collector or restoration value.
Does an old car automatically count as scrap?
No. Age alone does not decide the best route or value.
Can I sell an unfinished restoration?
You can enquire. Describe work done, parts missing and loose items included.
Will restoration spending set the price?
Not automatically. An offer reflects the current vehicle, condition and agreed contents.
What if it has been stored for years?
Tell us how long and what is known now. Do not start or move it solely for our enquiry.
Can spare parts be included?
Explain which parts and where they are stored. Inclusion and collection need to be agreed.
How do I request a quote for a classic car?
Enter your registration in the quotation box, then describe the condition and where the vehicle is parked. Include the details you already know; you can also call 07931 744064 if it is easier to explain.
Do I have to accept the offer?
No. The quotation is free and there is no obligation to sell. Take time to ask questions, understand the offer and discuss collection before you decide whether to go ahead.

What Could a Classic car Be Worth?
A classic car needs individual consideration of model, condition, completeness and any genuine specialist value. Do not rely on an unrelated restored car’s price or assume it must be scrapped. Understand the offer before deciding which option suits you.
Be clear about what is included in the sale and ask what collection involves. A figure for a different vehicle, or its value before a fault or accident, is not a reliable comparison. Our main scrap car prices guide explains general factors; your offer needs to reflect the vehicle you have actually described.
