How Our Quotation and Collection Works

Four straightforward steps, with someone to talk to if you need a hand.

1. Get Your Free Quote

Enter your vehicle registration into our online quotation form.

2. Tell Us About Your Car

Explain the faults, damage or condition and where the vehicle is located.

3. Discuss Your Offer

We’ll review the details and discuss what we may be able to offer.

4. Arrange Collection

If you’re happy to proceed, we’ll discuss suitable collection arrangements and paperwork.

Can I Scrap My Electric Car?

An electric car may have collision damage, charging trouble, an MOT failure or other faults. Those are different enquiries, so describe the actual problem rather than assuming the battery is at fault. Do not open, disconnect or test high-voltage equipment for our quotation. Known battery damage needs to be disclosed at the beginning.

There is no pressure to decide while you are gathering information. Start with your registration, explain the condition in your own words and tell us where the vehicle is parked. We can discuss a quotation without asking you to authorise repairs or accept an offer first.

Start With the Model and Known Condition

Tell us the registration, mileage and what has happened. Explain any diagnosis and whether the car can enter ready mode or be moved, without testing it for us. Mention charging trouble, other warning messages and bodywork damage separately. A message alone does not establish which component needs attention.

Be Clear About Battery and Collision Damage

Tell us about known battery impact, water exposure, fire, unusual heat or professional advice not to use the vehicle. A damaged battery can present hazards even when the car appears switched off. Suitability and specialist handling must be assessed before collection is agreed. Do not charge or move it simply to prepare for our enquiry.

Consider the Whole Car and the Paperwork

Include MOT defects, missing components, ownership and finance information. A repair estimate can help if you already have one, but a paid battery test is not required solely to begin an enquiry. If the electric car is scrapped, the correct authorised treatment route and DVLA notification remain necessary.

What to Include in Your Enquiry

Give us the registration, mileage if known and the postcode where the vehicle is now. Add the main problem and other faults, accident damage or missing parts. A useful description does not need to be technical; just tell us what you know and say when something is uncertain.

If you have a garage report, an MOT result or repair estimate already, the details can help. You do not need to buy another inspection solely for our quotation. Let us know if work has started or the vehicle has changed since a report was written.

Collection: What We Need to Know

Tell us the electric car’s location, access and movement restrictions. Known battery damage may require specialist recovery and may affect whether the vehicle can be accepted. Do not attempt a tow, charge or battery work to prepare it for us.

Please mention a narrow entrance, underground parking, another vehicle blocking access or a garage holding the keys. Tell us who can authorise release if the car is away from your home. We will discuss the practical details and what the offer includes before you decide, rather than assume every location or vehicle needs the same arrangements.

Ownership and Handover Paperwork

You need the right to sell the vehicle. Tell us about outstanding finance, a missing log book, an insurer’s involvement or an enquiry made for somebody else. Being able to access a car does not by itself mean you can authorise its sale. We will discuss any necessary checks before agreeing to proceed.

Keep useful vehicle and ownership documents together, and use the official DVLA guidance below when the vehicle is sold or scrapped. A quotation is not a substitute for the correct handover and notification. If the vehicle is scrapped, it must go to an authorised treatment facility. The official links below explain the process.

Questions About Selling an Electric car

Can I scrap my electric car?

You can make an enquiry. Explain its condition and any battery or high-voltage safety concern before collection is considered.

Do you need a battery-health report?

Share one if already available. We do not require you to buy a test solely to begin a quotation.

Does charging trouble mean battery failure?

Not necessarily. Describe the symptoms and any confirmed diagnosis.

Should I disconnect or remove the battery?

No. Do not work on high-voltage equipment for us. Appropriately trained specialists may be needed.

What if it has been flooded or in a collision?

Disclose that straight away. Battery damage and recovery needs require assessment before any collection agreement.

Can I charge it to help with collection?

Do not charge or test it for our enquiry, particularly where damage is suspected. Pass on professional safety advice already received.

How do I request a quote for an electric car?

Enter your registration in the quotation box, then describe the condition and where the vehicle is parked. Include the details you already know; you can also call 07931 744064 if it is easier to explain.

Do I have to accept the offer?

No. The quotation is free and there is no obligation to sell. Take time to ask questions, understand the offer and discuss collection before you decide whether to go ahead.

What Could an Electric car Be Worth?

An electric car needs an individual offer based on model, mileage, condition, completeness and known battery or other faults. We do not use a fixed deduction for every warning. Explain what is confirmed and what is uncertain before comparing quotations.

Be clear about what is included in the sale and ask what collection involves. A figure for a different vehicle, or its value before a fault or accident, is not a reliable comparison. Our main scrap car prices guide explains general factors; your offer needs to reflect the vehicle you have actually described.
